Isaiah 55:6
⁶ Seek the LORD while he may be found;
call on him while he is near. (NIV

We are to seek the Lord while He may be found. This could seem harsh as if God will not allow Himself to be found forever and ever, but love requires that God set a limited time that He can be found by those who seek Him.

The Bible defines the limit as being at the end of this physical life. At that moment, we will have to stand before God and if we have not sought after Him as Lord, it will be too late. But also, Scripture teaches there will come a day, like in the days of Noah, when suddenly the world as we know it will come to an end. During Noah’s time, people were living life normally. They were going to work, dating, getting married, then suddenly the rains began to pour. Noah had been sent by God to make known this limited time.

The New Testament reveals another limit when Christ will come with the sounding of trumpets. Those who have made Him Lord of their life will experience the fullness of His love and grace. Those who have not will be out of time. How is this loving? God has made us aware that the time of seeking is limited, but the exact length of this time is unknown.

Knowing there is limited time without knowing exactly when the end will come keeps us from taking advantage of His grace. If we were to take advantage of His grace, it would be an act of dishonor, not faith. It would be a rejection of God to indulge in a sinful lifestyle. This indulgence would move us further from the Spirit that gives wisdom. We would unknowingly blind ourselves from God until we no longer wanted to seek Him or believed He was real. The unknown limit is designed to keep us from this.

The love of God has set a limit. If you have not made Christ your Lord, do it today. If you know someone who needs God, don’t procrastinate in sharing the love of Christ with them.
