Unshaken from Within
The most fortified place for a king would be his own palace. Seated upon His throne surrounded by his army and servants, his power is displayed. We think of the Throne of Heaven as the place of unmatched power. God sits above all creatures, holy and unholy, surrounded by legions of angels and the saints of old praising His name. But God’s throne is without boundaries. It can also be extended to be established with our souls.
As we love the Lord, evident through our obedience to Him, He makes His residence with us. His temple from Heaven descends into our spirit. The power of Heaven will make its home in our hearts and mind. This is Heaven come down to us. This is God as more than with us but in us. And from His throne within us, all that He is comes to us.
In Heaven, we will have no enemies, but when His throne has been established upon our hearts, the enemy cannot overcome us. Fear is defeated. Our confidence that comes from the inner presence of God cannot be shaken by the stress of this world. This does not from the happenings of this world. The peace of God can only emanate from the Throne of Grace. People, politics, money, jobs, and relationships all fall short of peace. When we wait for something in this life to alter our inner peace, then we make our slaves to this world.
God’s peace cannot be shaken, but it can only be found within our spirit where God has established His throne.
And what prompts the Lord to extend His Kingdom to our hearts? It is our love for Him. Jesus said if you love me, you will obey me. Following His principles with a humble heart moves the heart of God to extend His Kingdom to our hearts so that we might know in our inmost place the peace and power of our God so that nothing in this world can rattle our spirit. From His throne within our hearts, we are unshaken.
Prayer: Lord, help me to live a life of love to You so that You might extend the Kingdom of Heaven to my heart establishing Your power within me. Let me be unshaken by the things of this world. Amen.
