The UnCreated One

The uncreated one.

Psalms 90:2
2 Before the mountains were born
or you brought forth the whole world,
from everlasting to everlasting you are God. (NIV)

All that we know in the physical realm is created. We are created. But God is the uncreated one. He exists outside of and in authority of the space He has created.

The created realm sits in the hands of God like you hold your iPhone or Android. It is an amazing piece of technology working almost miraculously communicating with people all over the world in a plethora of ways, keeping you organized, reminding you what is next on your schedule, and navigating you around traffic to your desired destination. Yet, without you, it would be a piece of metal unable to do anything. You have to turn it on, direct its technology, set it up, and put it to use. This is the created realm in the hands of God.

We live as if the created realm has all authority as if what we see or don’t see around us has the final say. Imagine living as if your phone was your authority.

I was with a friend recently traveling to an event, stuck in traffic, and she was attempting to find the quickest route. She asked a friend to plug the destination into her app. The funny thing is that when the digital voice told her to turn this way or that, she did not follow the app. She made her own evaluation. She decided what she would do. She was in control, not her phone.

We are not slaves to our phones and we should not be a slave to the created realm. What we see and touch is not the authority. What we feel in our physical body is not the final say. We don’t have to let what happens around us determine our next move. We can ignore the navigation system of the created world and listen to God, the One who created and operates this world. We have a God who can press anywhere on the screen of creation to change everything so easily. And when we pray, He shifts creation and moves it in a different direction than what seemed possible on our behalf.

He has promised to hear our prayers, send help, rescue, and ensure we overcome all things. We only need to trust Him more than we trust what we see. As easily as you open an app on your phone, God can change everything for us and through us.

Prayer: Lord, teach me to trust You more than what I see. Amen.
