The birthing place of strength.
Psalms 18:30
30 As for God, his way is perfect:
The LORD’s word is flawless;
he shields all who take refuge in him. (NIV)
Our natural posture works to avoid struggle, discomfort, and pain. We do everything we can to avoid these things by running away, shutting it down with anger, or slipping out of it using manipulation. What we don’t always understand is the avoidance of struggle and pain keeps us weak.
Spiritual weakness keeps us in bondage to the sinful nature where fear dominates and the flesh pursues pleasure at an unhealthy level to offset the hard times. A weak spirit has no power to hold on to joy, peace, and love when overwhelmed. A weak spirit self-protects creating tension in relationships, but the ever-increasing strength of the faithful empowers them to live in victory.
The strength of the Lord comes in the battle. Those things our flesh works so hard to avoid are the birthing place of strength in our spirit. In our distress, we call upon the Lord. Our call and His faithfulness to those who call upon Him intermingle and strength is conceived in our spirit. What we must remember is that calling upon the Lord in word without trusting Him relegates our soul too infertile.
God’s way is perfect working in us to bring awareness of our need for Him. Too much pain will depress us. Not enough pain leaves us weak. His way perfectly nudges and urges our spirit to cry out to Him and He shields those who take refuge in Him. The word ‘refuge’ is translated as ‘trust.’ Crying out to God doesn’t signal trust. To trust the Lord, we follow His flawless word.
He protects those who trust Him by following His word. Sincere cries to the Lord will move us to a willingness to obey the Word of the Lord regardless of our circumstances. We trust that He knows what we don’t. We trust that what He has allowed will work to draw us near to Him. We trust that His ways are perfect and His Word is flawless.
His way in us including the uncomfortable and difficult along with His flawless word move us to trust Him and in this, we find refuge in Him. His strength is ours. This is the birthing place of strength.
Do you resist the hard times? Instead, embrace them allowing them to move you to cry out to God and turn to His word in obedience. And He will surely shield you in His strength and power.
