My Light and Salvation

My light and salvation.

Psalms 27:1
1 The LORD is my light and my salvation —
whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the stronghold of my life—
of whom shall I be afraid? (NIV)

Mankind came to be in the light, made in the image of God. Before sin, man was bent toward goodness. Because of this, we do not crave destruction and death. We must be deceived into walking this path. Just as Eve was deceived by the serpent, we must be deceived to pursue destruction. Darkness prevents us from seeing the right path so that we are tempted to take the other less traveled.

Man was made in the Light, but the serpent came in the cover of darkness. Adam and Eve had no desire to do something that would hurt them. To be destroyed, they had to be deceived. With emanating darkness, the serpent did just that. Darkness blinds us to what is truly good. But the Lord is my Light that I might not be deceived. As my Light, He is also my Salvation.

Without being deceived, how can anyone do lasting damage? Though men may pursue to attack, the Light of my Lord will guide my eyes to Him in all circumstances. Their weapons may strike and cause pain, but in the Light of my God, I see the attack for what it is. I turn my eyes not toward anger or vengeance, but toward Heaven from where my help comes. And as surely as the sun rises, the Bible says, God will come to me, sustain my faith, and pour into me the healing power of the Holy Spirit.

We will not allow the invasion of darkness into the moment to deceive us to believe what is forbidden is good. We have the Light of our Salvation brightly revealing the intent and motive of everything that has an appearance of good. Instead, we walk in the light as He is in the Light.

It is the principles of living given by God to whosoever believes Him to be God that allows us to trust God. This life He calls us to live will keep us in the Light so what shall we fear? Whom shall we fear? No matter what attacks I endure, no weapons formed against me will prosper.

Prayer: Lord, help me to keep walking in the Light to have confidence that You are with me and no weapons formed against me shall prosper. Amen.
